The 21 year old man, who was charged in June with the manslaughter of Gary (Jeff) Stacey, has today (Friday) appeared at Winchester Crown Court.
The assault took place on St James’ Street, Newport at around 4am on Sunday, 14 February.
The 21 year year old, originally from the Isle of Wight, but now residing in Southampton, put forward a plea of not guilty to the charge.
A two week trial is scheduled to take place in May 2017.
