£60,000 Grassroots Funding Up For Grabs

If you’re involved with a voluntary or community group on the Island that could do with a funding boost, then read on.

£60,000 Grassroots Funding Up For GrabsThe Grassroots Grants Programme will shortly be coming to an end so groups on the Island are being invited to take advantage of their last chance to have a share of the £60,000 that remains in the pot.

The programme is managed on the Island by the Isle of Wight Community Fund who tell us that most of the remaining money is due to be dished out in March this year.

Since its launch in September 2008, more than £125,000 has been distributed amongst 49 groups on the Island. “The wonderful thing about the Grassroots programme is that it has made such a positive impact to so many smaller groups who wouldn’t normally consider applying for grants” says Chris Martin, Chairman of the Isle of Wight Community Fund. “We have made the process very simple and look forward to supporting many more community groups this year.”

“There will no doubt be lots of competition for the money, so get your application in as soon as possible” advises Chris.

There are a range of grants available from £250 up to £5,000. To be eligible your group has to have been active in the community for at least one year and have an annual income of less than £30,000.

Criteria
Priority will be given to applications that clearly show the Community benefit of their group and how a grant will help to strengthen the group this could include: training for volunteers and staff, running costs, equipment, or marketing to attract new volunteers and member.

Applications for expansion of /or new services will have to show how these service will continue to be paid for after the Grassroots Grant money is spent.

More information along with full criteria and application forms can be downloaded from the Isle of Wight Community Fund website

The deadline for applications is 12th February so get your skates on.
