Gift to Nature welcomes new sites: Little Lynn Common and Bembridge Silt Lagoon

Thanks to Danny from Gift To Nature for this latest update on sites around the Island. Ed

It’s always nice to start the new year with good news and here at Gift to Nature we are pleased to introduce two new sites:

Little Lynn Common and Bembridge Silt Lagoon.

Little Lynn Common
Little Lynn Common is owned by the People’s Trust for Endangered Species (PTES) and comprises heathland, gorse and a varied woodland.

The site is nestled within a triangle formed by Briddlesford Road and Combley Road, near Havenstreet. It will be managed by the Gift to Nature ranger team according to a prescription devised by Natural England.

Although there hasn’t been public access in the past, the rangers are working with the PTES to make this possible. Find out more non the Gift To Nature website.

Bembridge Silt Lagoon
Bembridge Silt Lagoon is located off Embankment Road in Bembridge and is accessed from the old railway line footpath.

In the Autumn of 2024, we completed a large-scale project to encourage and accommodate waterfowl and other ground nesting birds by creating an open area for grazing and nesting.

This site is very much in the early stages of its development.

Over the coming year, we will make observations and recordings to inform its management plan.
