News shared by Nuala on behalf of Gurnard Community Farm. Ed
On Saturday we had a wonderful turnout at Gurnard’s new Community Farm. With a fantastic sense of energy and enthusiasm as we took this important step in planting our first fruit and nut trees.
The atmosphere was filled with positivity and excitement, as everyone came together to lend a hand and ensure the morning’s success.
Community spirit
A heartfelt thank you to all who contributed in so many ways—those who took up spades and helped dig holes, ferry water, soil, and wood chip, and those who planted the trees, secured them with supports, watered them, and made sure each one was named.
Every effort made a difference.
High spirits
Beyond the work itself, the morning was also a celebration of community. Some brought along flapjacks and bananas to keep spirits high, while others shared warm smiles and good conversation, making the occasion not just productive but thoroughly enjoyable.
Immense gratitude to those who so generously gifted a tree, helping to bring this vision to life.
Thanks to all these collective efforts, we can proudly say it was a truly successful and rewarding morning—one that marks the beginning of something special for our shared green space!
