After a very hectic few days the three independent lifeboat stations have finally had time to sit down and reflect on the events of another extremely successful Go Orange Day.
Whilst it is too early to tell how much money has been raised this year yet, one thing that is obvious is that the support of the public towards these units is extremely high and a BIG thanks needs to go out to everyone that has in one way or another donated something over the weekend; be it money or time.
All money raised will go to running costs
You can be rest assured that if you donated to one of the units the money will remain at that unit and will go directly towards operational running costs.
With running costs of over £30,000 a year it’s fundraisers like these that keep the units afloat.
It may interest readers to know that financial grants are very hard to come by for the units, as they are not specifically set up to support any disadvantaged groups.
Therefore they rely on the generosity of the Islanders and once again they have been overwhelmed with the level of community support.
