Following a tip-off from an On The Wight reader, we contacted the Police and learnt the following. In their words – Ed.
Police can confirm a number of officers carried out a search of Ryde Cemetery this afternoon (Wednesday, 31st October, 2012).
Abandoned furniture found at the cemetery was handed into Ryde Police Station by a member of the public.
A search was conducted due to concerns that the abandoned furniture may have been stolen or related to other criminal activity.
No evidence of a crime was found.
