The sounds of Christmas will ring out at three Island churches in December thanks to a local brass band.
Abbey Brass will perform Christmas-themed concerts at Newport Salvation Army Church on 11th December at 7.30pm, Wootton Methodist Church on the 15th at 3pm and Binstead Methodist Church on the 18th at 7.30pm.
The concerts will include a mixture of carols and a varied selection of other traditional and more modern festive tunes.
Littlemore: Looking forward to entertaining audiences with some new arrangements
Abbey Brass musical director Phillip Littlemore said,
“There is something special about hearing the sound of a brass band at Christmas.
“We are looking forward to entertaining audiences with some new arrangements of traditional Christmas music together with some familiar festive pieces and carols – there will be something for everyone.”
Admission to all concerts is free, with retiring collections in aid of church and band funds.

Smaller ensembles from the band will also be playing at the Merry and Bright event in Ryde on 6th December, in Newport Minster on 14th December as part of the town’s Festive Cheer celebrations, a carol concert at Ventnor Park on 21st December and the Traveller’s Joy pub in Northwood on 23rd December.
