Ability Dogs 4 Young People is calling for enthusiastic volunteers to help at events and ensure the Charity continues to thrive as its founder, Carol Court, looks to step back from some of the fundraising events. The Charity will continue to have a strong presence at all the
Island shows, but Carol is entrusting the running and coordination to long-term staff and volunteers, supported by new recruits.
Carol remains at the heart of the Charity, continuing to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations across its vast range of roles and responsibilities. Now is a good time to give others the opportunity to take a more active role in the frontline fundraising.
Court: Volunteers play a crucial role
Carol said,
“We have an amazing team who are more than capable of running our stall at events, but we need extra support to ensure everything operates smoothly.
“Volunteers play a crucial role in helping us raise much-needed funds and awareness, and we’d love to see more people getting involved.”
A variety of fetes, fairs and shows
The Charity attends a variety of fetes, fairs and shows throughout the year, from major events including the County Show, Garlic Festival, Chale Show and Wolverton Garden Fair, as well as smaller community and school events. Volunteers are needed to help set up, run fundraising activities, sell merchandise, and chat to the public about the Charity’s work.

Volunteers can also help with preparation before events, for example, sorting prizes for the lucky dip and tombola. No prior experience is necessary—just a passion for the cause and a willingness to lend a hand. New volunteers will be supported every step of the way, with someone always on hand to answer questions and provide guidance.
Flexible roles
Volunteering roles are variable, flexible and fun providing an enriching opportunity to give back to the community. By stepping forward as a volunteer, individuals will not only be making a difference to disabled people and their families but also supporting the Charity’s long-term sustainability.
With a strong, skilled team already in place, new volunteers will be welcomed into a well-organised and supportive environment.
