IW Council leader, Jonathan Bacon, told the public meeting last night (Monday) that up until now the government has not recognised the Isle of Wight is unique. A change of language may have a bearing on future funding.
Jonathan Bacon was elected in 2013 as Isle of Wight Councillor for Brading, St Helens and Bembridge. He was also Executive Member for Children’s Services and Corporate Governance and later became leader of the IWC.
He stood for reelection in 2017 but failed to gain enough votes. He was then elected as an Our Island councillor for Brading & St Helens and joined the Alliance Group to take power of County Hall. He is the Cabinet Member for Environment, Heritage and Waste Management.
