Great news in from Quay Arts this week about the Acoustic Originals monthly events.
Previously it would’ve cost you a few quid to get in, but from this month, all you need to take is money for your bus fare and a couple of drinks from the bar.
We hear from organisers of the event that the last Acoustic Originals night attracted approximately seventy people to watch six acts from all over the Island perform original material, including Spike Oatley and Ben Johnson of the Wild Oats (from Ryde), Stickman from Cowes, Hannah Jacobs and Max Edermaniger from Medina High School and the excellent harmony-based band Lucid.
Newcomers “The Daily” are Joe Huxtable & Christian Clements, a Newport based guitar duo commented …
“We’ve only recently decided to perform to the public and the Acoustic Originals night provided us with the perfect chance for us to have go. Since this was our first performance, we really enjoyed the combination of a relaxed atmosphere and a plentiful audience. You also get the opportunity to see other good live acts that you wouldn’t see at an open mic night. The main thing though is that everyone is really supportive. It was an awesome night and we’ll be back!”

“it feels like these evenings are really taking off now, with some great Island acts performing over the next couple of nights as well as artists from Portsmouth and Bournemouth. We are hoping to do a live recording in July which will act as a useful promotion vehicle for the wealth of Island musical talent”.
