A meeting is due to be held tomorrow, Thursday 16th July 2015 at 7:30pm in Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club, to discuss the Cowes Outer Harbour Project (Breakwater).
The meeting is independent to Cowes Harbour Commission and will be an opportunity for all parties concerned to voice their views on the effect of the Breakwater project on river users and the future of Cowes.
OnTheWight understands a great deal of work has been going on behind the scenes to gain independent advice on the real effects of the Breakwater, namely tidal and silting of the river.
A notice about the meeting reads,
The meeting is open to all stakeholders and/or their representatives, including yacht clubs, local businesses (both marine and non-marine), yachtsmen and other harbour and River Medina users.
The agenda will be
- Explanation of the consultant engineer’s advice
- Explanation of Marine Geologist’s view
- Explanation of written Legal Advice of Counsel and QC
- Report on recent correspondence and meetings with harbour Master and Harbour Commissioner Chris Preston, letter to Camper and Nicholson and the HCA.
- Open to the floor discussion as to the way forward – UB to provide draft letter to CHC.
Please feel free to bring anyone you feel would wish to attend, but please note that positive contributions to the debate would be helpful and as time will be short.
Therefore anyone perceived to attempt to prevent those present achieving a sensible and practical conclusion will be asked to refrain (and or leave)
