Alan Wells Clarifies Position On Schools Questionnaire

Alan Wells confirmed today on the Alex Dyke phone-in, that each and every person on the Wight is entitled to complete a questionnaire relating to the proposed school changes.

This is contrary to the rumours flying around that only one questionnaire per household would be considered.

He did go on to state that when there are multiple entries for households, that these would be …..

Initially thrown out but then subject to a second going through on a manual basis and if obviously two or three people from the same address with different views, we’ll pick those up and make sure that they are counted in.

He did go onto say that further checks would be made to tie entries back to electoral roll, but we’re not sure how this will work for any young people who complete the questionnaire as they clearly won’t be on the electoral roll.

Cllr Wells and Pugh were also asked how the answer ‘No Preference’ under question 7 would be analysed. Cllr Wells suggested that anyone who was not in agreement with any of the three options should select ‘No Preference’ and then explain their concerns in the box for question 8.

They confirmed that choosing ‘No Preference’ would not, under any circumstances be read as ‘I don’t care which option you go for’.

All questionnaires being completed by individuals need to be in to the council by this coming Friday.
