Sandown Carnival Association is pleased to announce that plans for a free fireworks display on the Esplanade at 6pm this Saturday 1st January are going ahead.
It will be the Carnival’s first organised display for two years and will start with a rainbow-style sequence to honour key workers for all their efforts since the pandemic began.
Paul Coueslant, Chair of Sandown Carnival Committee, said,
“We’re delighted to offer the town something to enjoy after such difficult times and we thank Sandown Town Council and Sandown Pier for supporting the occasion.
“Although there’s currently no specific government advice for outdoor events in England, we do encourage people to take sensible precautionary measures including keeping a safe distance from others and to stay away if they have Covid symptoms.”
The event is free to all, but donations to Sandown Carnival are always welcome on the night or online.
Sandown Carnival supports RSPCA advice to help pets deal with fireworks.
