It’s that time of the year again when the Island’s MP, Andrew Turner, will be travelling around the Island carrying out his annual Summer Surgery. The surgery tour gives Islanders the opportunity to speak to their MP about issues that concern them whilst he is in their town or village.
Mr Turner said:
“The Summer Recess gives me the perfect chance to get out and about in the community, which I enjoy very much. I get to talk to lots of people; some feel their problem doesn’t really merit a special trip to my office in Newport and I also get to meet Islanders who don’t really have a problem – but just want to have a chat about an issue which is on their minds.
“It is always useful for MPs to hear what people are thinking. No appointment is necessary so please do come along with any problem you have or just to ‘get things off your chest’. As well as my weekly surgery in Newport I often hold surgeries in supermarkets across the Island and also knock on doors on many Saturday mornings – but the Summer surgery remains popular with many people.“
The Summer Surgery programme
The Summer Surgery programme can be seen below. There will also be posters on Parish and Town Council notice boards giving details. Mr Turner will also have a stand at the Garlic Festival on 17th and 18th August where he always enjoys meeting Islanders.
Mr Turner’s Summer Surgery is again supported by Premier Ford of Newport, who will be lending him a suitable vehicle to be used as a surgery, both for privacy and in case the weather gives the need for some shelter.
