We’re pretty sure that most people online on the Isle of Wight will have now seen the video of Isle of Wight Conservative MP, Andrew Turner gingerly trotting on a trampoline – the original video by Robert Wye has been seen over 60,000 times in less than 24 hours.
OnTheWight made the decision early on today to not run the video. As a news publication, it just felt wrong – the Island’s MP was clearly uneasy with the situation – not surprising for someone who has suffered a stroke.
Much like the Tiger question at PMQs in September 2015, the video has resulted in him becoming the subject of mockery on social media once again.
Now on a national political stage
Not only that, but it’s now hit the national political stage, as the video has been picked up and shared by political commentator, Guido Fawkes. Although many deny reading his Order Order site, it’s widely understood as essential viewing at Westminster.
Titled Tory MP Vs Trampoline the article states,
“Most Tory MPs are agonising on which way to campaign in the referendum, but not Andrew Turner.
“He’s been filmed facing the rather more daunting challenge of how to make it off a trampoline and into a children’s ball pit with his dignity intact. Great stuff.”
Update 10:59PM: Added in clarification why we, as a news publication, didn’t run when it this morning.
