Thanks to Martin from the Friends of Dinosaur Isle for details of the upcoming Bone Day. Ed
Dinosaur Isle is making tracks for another of its highly successful Bone Days on Saturday 25th May.
Last year, herds of dinosaur hunters and enthusiasts stampeded to Dinosaur Isle with fossil finds from all over the Island to have them identified by experts like Steve Hutt, former curator at Dinosaur Isle, and other professionals in the field.
The return of the experts
Dr Jeremy Lockwood, a general practitioner and chairman of Friends of Dinosaur Isle, gave an entertaining talk last year.
With the use of x-rays of human bones he told the story of a sick stegosaurus that developed a serious bone infection after being in a fight.
Gruesome Ailments
This year, Jeremy will continue to amuse and educate us with a talk on Gruesome Ailments that Plagued the Cretaceous Period.
Steve Hutt will be talking about his life as a curator at the museum with some interesting anecdotes from his frequent TV appearances and Dr Gareth Dyke from Southampton University will be discussing Theropods.
Food on offer, but booking essential
As always, the Friends of Dinosaur Isle work very hard at making these events a great success and will once again be providing a home cooked meal.
Everyone with an interest in dinosaurs is invited but booking is essential.
Contact Dinosaur Isle on 01983 404344 to book.
