Ryde Harriers had a group of four in attendance with Sam Cleare first home finishing in a great time of 01:12:29 closely followed by Julie King in 01:13:02. Tracey Dillon and Brian Warren completed the Ryde quartet with their times 01:15:38 and 01:20:46 respectively.
Track series
The annual Ryde Harriers track series opened up with a 5km race in difficult conditions. Strong winds on the top bend and home straight made for a hard run as momentum, as well as standing upright, was tough to maintain.
A good battle ensued for first place with Tom Blackwell just holding off the challenge of Keith Morey from Wight Tri as they finished 18:15 and 18:18 respectively.
Third place went to another Wight Tri member Nick Curwood who just missed out on breaking twenty minutes as he finished in 20:03.
First women home was Samantha Fancourt (23:09) whose strong final kilometre was enough to safely see her home in front of fast finishing Lucy Diamond (23:18).
