Another Rise in Unemployed Claimants On The Island

As predicted at the end of the summer season, the number of unemployed claimants on the Isle of Wight continues to rise.

Unemployment Figures RiseAccording to the Office for National Statistics, the number of unemployed claimants on the Island in November 2010, increased to 3,083.

That equates to an increase of 259 since last month (October) but is 328 lower than in November 2009 (not seasonally adjusted).

This represents a rate of 5.0% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 253rd highest of the 650 UK constituencies.
