A staff member at Blackwater Mill Residential Home, Newport is appealing to Islanders to send a birthday card to one of their residents who will be 105-years-old in September, but has no family or friends.
Debbie Webb explained,
“On 17th September one of our residents, Joan, is going to be 105.
“She has no family or friends and I’m trying to get as many cards for her so I can to make her day special.
“I’d be very grateful if anyone could send her a card.
“Thank you so much.”
Plenty of cards on their way
It looks as though the Post Office are going to be busy. Debbie had placed the appeal on the Isle of Wight Community and Information Facebook Group, which attracted more than 160 comments from people around the world saying they would send a card to Joan.
