Appeal for witnesses after suspected arson attack on the Isle of Wight

Police are appealing for more witnesses to a suspicious fire at a derelict building on the Isle of Wight.

The Royal Cliff Hotel in the Beachfield Road and Grange Road area of Sandown was heavily damaged by flames on Saturday night (October 11, 2014).

Detectives are treating the fire and its circumstances as a suspected arson attack.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Dave Pain of Isle of Wight CID said:

“I’d like to thank the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and members of the public for all their assistance with our enquiries so far.

“One line of enquiry is appealing for witnesses who saw anyone acting suspiciously after 10pm on Saturday night (October 11) in the Beachfield Road area or the cliff path area of Sandown.”
