The Island’s MP, Andrew Turner, is urging people not to miss out on Grants they may be entitled to under the Warm Front Scheme.
The Warm Front Scheme offers a package of heating and insulation measures, up to £3,500, for people on certain income-related benefits, for houses that are poorly insulated and/or do not have a working central heating system.
Don’t miss out on grant
Mr Turner commented, “I am concerned that Islanders don’t miss out on this grant. The measures which can be put in place could make homes so much more comfortable and energy efficient, particularly over the winter months. Only 385 Island households applied for this in 2010/11 compared to 788 in 2007/8. The grant is simple to apply for but it is vital people do this in the next six months otherwise they may be too late to qualify.”
To be eligible you must own your own home or rent from a private landlord. You must be in receipt of certain income-related benefits, for example pension credit or income-related employment and support allowance.
Apply online
Subject to acceptance of your application a Warm Front surveyor will visit your property and, if you fall below the acceptable threshold, the surveyor will make recommendations on which energy efficiency improvements are most appropriate for your property.
You can apply online or by emailing your contact details to [email protected] and an advisor will contact you. You can also telephone Warm Front 0800 316 2805.
