The back section of a whale was found washed up on the beach in Seaview yesterday.
VB reader Julia got in touch to let us know and we popped up to have a look.
Unfortunately we didn’t make it in time, as the Coastguards got there first, but as you can see from Julia’s photos, it wasn’t the whole whale, but just the back end that ended up on the beach.
We figure the whale must have been caught in the propeller of a large ship as the photos shows a clean slice. Very sad.

The news came just a few days after another VB reader, Catherine Cameron-Martin, sent us a video she’d put to her own words and music to, in tribute to the work being carried out by those trying to protect whales from slaughter.
