BAFTA win for Islander involved with production of ‘My Childhood, My Country – 20 years in Afghanistan’

Earlier this month, an Islander involved with the production of an award-winning documentary had the honour of attending the British Academy Television Awards (BAFTA) and even holding a coveted BAFTA trophy.

A former Ryde School pupil, Megan Poole from Newport, now works for Seventh Art Productions in Brighton, the production team responsible for the ‘My Childhood, My Country – 20 years in Afghanistan’.

Best Single Documentary category
The film is a feature-length real-life epic of boyhood and manhood, filmed over twenty years in one of the most embattled corners of the globe.

This moving new film managed to beat off stiff competition to win the Best Single Documentary category at the BAFTAs on 8th May.

Poole: A real labour of love
Megan told News OnTheWight,

“This film means so much to all of us, it has been a real labour of love and we are so proud to have won such a prestigious award.

“It was an amazing night and hopefully will help spread knowledge about the situation in Afghanistan.”

You can stream the film via Virgin.
