Tomorrow Wednesday, 25 May, marks ‘International Missing Children’s Day’.
Nationwide, an awareness raising initiative is taking place, organised by Forever Searching, by setting off balloons across the country, each with their own tag of a missing person’s details.
The Isle of Wight will be taking part in the initiative with The Newport Balloon Launch.
Organised by Vectis Radio
The event is being organised by Vectis Radio presenter Paddy McHugh, with help from regular listener Mrs James.
We understand that some schools will be taking part and it’s hoped members of the public will get involved too.
The event starts at 2pm in St Thomas’ Square and some schools have already confirmed attendance. Organisers also hope that community officers and perhaps even a celebrity or two will be taking part.
Relative of missing teenager Damien Nettles will also be taking part in the event which runs between 2pm-5pm tomorrow (Tuesday) Wednesday.
