Bardon Vectis have this week received planning approval for a replacement asphalt plant (including repositioned coldfeed hoppers and increase in maximum stack height to 26.5m).
Readers will remember public comments were invited on the application in July 2012 to expand the facilities in Blackwater.
Increased capacity
Planning officers made a delegated decision to approve to the scheme (with conditions) yesterday (16th May), which according to previous reports will give Bardon Vectis the capacity to supply asphalt to the highways PFI contractor, Island Roads (aka Vinci Ringway).
Given the reported problems of Island Roads buying in asphalt from the mainland, and the, so far, lack of planning approval for their proposed asphalt plant at Medina Wharf, this planning approval will give them another option.
Application details can be found on the council’s Website.
