Beach Soccer Pitch to Relocate: Public Meeting Announced

Anyone interested in the relocation of the Ryde Beach Soccer Pitch are being invited along to a public meeting next Wednesday to discuss the move.

england beach football teamJohn Hawkins, who is President of England Beach Soccer, will be making a presentation at the meeting on the proposed plans and will be answering questions from the public afterwards.

The proposal is for the pitch to be relocated from Appley Beach to Ryde Beach, just to the east of the harbour. They plan to trial it’s new location until 10 July.


The public meeting is being hosted by Ryde Town Management Committee and is taking place in the Council Chamber at Ryde Town Hall at 7pm.

Councillor David Pugh, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure and Communications said:

“We strongly value the contribution which England Beach Soccer makes to sport on the Island, and are proud that Ryde is the national base for such an increasingly popular international sport. We hope to trial the use of Ryde Beach over the next few weeks and consider, in consultation with local people, whether this could work in the longer-term.”

Ventnor is home to some of the greatest beach soccer stars in the UK and the Ventnor team The Bees, have had amazing success in the past.
