If you’ve been hiding in a cave or had your head in the sand for the last two weeks you won’t know that the Sunday headliner for Bestival 2009 has been announced.
Closing our favourite medium-sized festival on the Sunday night will be Elbow.
Despite the fact that they’re Mercury, BRIT and NME award winners, we’re not massive fans ourselves, but realise that there are certainly are many Elbow disciples on the Island and beyond.
Here’s what head honcho Rob Da Bank had to say on the announcement.
“It’s been a long road to landing our Sunday night headliners, much like the 18 year road our Sunday headliners have traveled ’til they finally got the exposure they deserve … I’m well pleased that Elbow will be bringing things to a majestic grand finale on the Sunday of Bestival and can’t think of a more suitable act after their mammoth year. All that aside they just make brilliant, honest music that judging by the biggest singalong I saw at Glastonbury last year will go down a storm on the Isle of Wight.”
Joining Elbow will be The Doves, The Horrors, The Big Pink, Casio Kids, The Duloks, Fresh Legs, XO-Man and The Ghost.
Late night discotheque action features Sheffield’s finest beat alchemist Toddla T, Dubstep dignitaries Dublime will be presenting sinewave surfing sets from Appleblim, Martyn, 2562 and Reso plus there will be segueing sounds from Chris Coco, Pete Gooding, Daisy Heartbreaker and Kasra.
