Two sections of the Bouldnor Road at Yarmouth are shortly to be improved by Island Roads.

The work between Hill Place Lane and St Swithin’s Crescent and from Lucketts Campsite to Hamstead Road will be undertaken at night in order to minimise disruption.

7km of improvements
The works are expected to be completed over 13 nights in total and will complete the stretch between Yarmouth Bridge and Elm Lane – a distance of approximately seven kilometres. A major geotechnical scheme to stabilise a stretch of Bouldnor Road between the View Point Car Park and River Road Car Park was also completed in 2014.

The forthcoming scheme is due to begin on 18th October. Work will be undertaken between the hours of 6.30pm and 6am during which time the road will be closed to traffic although pedestrian access will remain.

The diversion route during work will be via Thorley Road, Wilmingham Lane, Middle Road, Gunville Road, Forest Road and the Main Road, Shalfleet.

Keeping disruption to a minimum
Island Roads project manager Derek Benfield said:

“This is a busy section of road and we hope that by working overnight we will keep disruption to a minimum.

“We apologise in advance for any inconvenience but hope road users will feel that the significant work we have completed in this area since the start of the Highways PFI has brought real improvements to the major route linking Yarmouth to the east of the Island.”
