Saturday (30th July) sees a Sitar performance by Anna Sacchini. Taking place at 2pm, with free admission, this performance will be a fabulous treat for all visitors to the Villa.
Anna (of Ristorante Michelangelo, Ryde) was a pupil of the world renowned Sitar player Ravi Shankar, so you can expect an excellent performance.
Finds Identification
On Sunday (31st July), the Finds Identification event provides a chance to have your finds identified by experts.
Bring along your discoveries to the Villa on Sunday for identification by the Portable Antiquities Scheme.
Frank Basford, the Island’s Finds Liaison Officer will be on site to examine any historical finds the public have made either on the Island or further afield. Frank has worked as a field archaeologist and illustrator for the Isle of Wight archaeological service for many years.
Over the last 15 years, he has been working closely with local detectorists. Frank is particularly interested in the Bronze Age and in inter-tidal archaeology and co-manages the Isle of Wight’s coastal archaeology. The will also be a display of finds by The Vectis Searchers metal detecting club.
