Bandcamp users will be able to get early grabs on the debut single from Isle of Wight artist ODDA.
‘Mama’ is due to on general release on 15th October 2021, but will be available to download and stream from Bandcamp from Friday 1st October.
A languid, sepia-tone singalong
The Island native’s debut single blends a widescreen alt-rock backing track with his trademark south coast vocal delivery to create a languid, sepia-tone singalong.
The track has already had radio airplay in the UK on the BBC (Skip to 1 hour 40 mins) as well as in the US on Justin Hammel’s show on Amazing Radio.
Produced and mastered
This single was produced by ODDA himself, with the help of JPW, Grammy-winning UK mixer and At Swim co-owner Ian Dowling (Adele, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Bombay Bicycle Club) and mastering legends Greg Calbi/Steve Fallone (The National, Taylor Swift, Bob Dylan) at Sterling Sound, NY.
At Swim Music
This is the seventh release of 2021 for At Swim Music, an independent label founded in 2019 by Grammy-winning mixer/engineer Ian Dowling and visual artist Ed Kenny.
Previous 2021 releases include singles for The Authoritarian, Unom JG and Fjorda, as well as single and EP releases for modern composer Le Grand Salon.
“A young guy with a lot of talent and a very bright future”
Label owners Ian Dowling and Ed Kenny say,
“We are so proud of this! Oli has had to be really patient and wait a year for this release, so we really want it to be special for him.
“He’s a young guy with a lot of talent and a very bright future. This single is just the beginning for him, and we are really pleased he decided to take his first step with us”
“The waiting has been difficult, but I hope it’s been for the best”
ODDA says,
“As soon as I wrote this track I knew I wanted others to hear it. The process building up to this has been long and waiting has been difficult, but I hope it’s been for the best!
“The only thing that is going to make having it out there even better will be playing ‘Mama’ and my other material live… I’ve got lots more planned, so who wants to hear some music?”
