Dave the bus driver receiving his award

Bus Controller named employee of the year for going above and beyond the call of duty

Isle of Wight bus controller, Dave Forrester, is celebrating this week – after being named employee of the year by Southern Vectis.

Praised for his thoughtfulness and willingness to help anyone, no matter what the circumstances, Dave has a fount of knowledge to offer driver colleagues across the Island.

He was presented with his award at an annual ceremony, by Southern Vectis managing director Andrew Wickham.

Wickham: Continues to go above-and-beyond on a weekly basis
Andrew Wickham said,

“Dave has been a controller at Southern Vectis since 2019, having joined us in 2011.

“He continues to go above-and-beyond on a weekly basis.

“One example of this, was his willingness to step in on Christmas Day when, about to tuck in to his festive dinner, he learned of a shortage of staff due to Covid.

“Even though Dave was not on call, and hadn’t been asked to do so, he organised drivers to cover routes, and he himself took on a bus to operate route 3 from Ryde – having decided not to drink, just in case he was needed.

“This is yet more evidence of his commitment to our company, and to our customers across the Isle of Wight. I am delighted to present this award to Dave – and wish him a successful year ahead.”

In recognition of his efforts, Dave received £500 and a framed certificate.
