If you’re a bus user on the Isle of Wight, be aware of some fare increases taking place from Sunday 5 September.
The Freedom 7 pass will increase to £22, Freedom 30 goes up to £77, Freedom 90 will now be £198 and the Nightrider fare increases to £5.
Student riders finishes today
As many of you will already be aware, the Student Rider scheme also finishes tonight.
As previously reported, from tomorrow 5-18 year olds will be able to travel at half fare rates.
Southern Vectis are advising teenagers to make sure they have some sort of photo id, as the onus of proof of age will be with the customer.
Changes to timetables too
As well as the price increases, there are also some timetable changes taking place at the end of the week.
Route 1: Revised timetable. No change in frequency.
Route 2: Revised timetable. No change in frequency, but no buses in the evenings. Will operate via Merstone in both directions but will terminate at Sandown and not go to Ryde.
Route 3: Revised timetable. No change in frequency. Buses will operate through Rookley and not Merstone.
Route 4: Revised timetable.
Route 5: Revised timetable. No change in frequency.
Route 6: Revised timetable.
Route 7: Existing routes withdrawn and replaced by a daily, hourly route 7 running via Carisbrooke, Gunville, Shalfleet to the Horse and Groom, then Ningwood, Wellow and Thorley to Yarmouth and the current route to Alum Bay. Return journey via the same route. See also route 12.
Route 8: Reduced frequency to one an hour operating via Seaview and not Tesco.
Route 9: Revised timetable. No change in frequency.
Route 12: New route from Newport to Carisbrooke, Shorwell, Brighstone, Brook, Freshwater Bay, Freshwater and Totland. Return journey via the same route.
Route 25: New route from Newport to the Folly Inn, Saunders Way, East Cowes Hefford Road.
Route 37: Revised timetable.
Route 38: Revised timetable with no buses after 6.05pm
Route X10 and X11: No changes
