Back in December 2015, OnTheWight reported on a crowdfunding appeal that’d been launched by a pair of innovative butter producers.
Originally from Sweden, Maria and Patrik have now settled in Ventnor on the south coast of the Isle of Wight. They say they chose the Isle of Wight because our cream is ‘so good’.
Crowdfunding new dairy
Their crowdfunding appeal for £6,000 was created to help them set at Rew Valley Dairy on the Island. We’re pleased to see that the appeal has been successful with a fantastic £6,355 being raised.
As well as producing butter from cultured cream, the Butter Vikings plan also to make potted cheese, a British version of Japanese soy sauce and Umami butter.
The money raised will now help them buy the equipment needed to kickstart this project.
You can follow the progress of the Butter Vikings via their Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Best of luck Maria and Patrik, we look forward to seeing your butter in restaurants (and hopefully some shops) on the Isle of Wight in 2016.
