It won’t have escaped any Islander’s notice that in 2011 the NatWest Island Games will be hosted right here on the Isle of Wight.
In fact if you’d been past Guildhall over the summer, you’ll have seen the large monitor, counting down the number of days until the games commence next year.
We hear from organisers of the NatWest Island Games (thanks for getting in touch guys) that a new fundraising initiative is being launched today (1st October).
The novel fundraising idea will not only raise cash to help host the games, but also give Islanders and businesses the chance to ‘put themselves on the NatWest Island Games map’.
What’s NatWest Island Games map?
The map, or rather the ‘Friends of the Games’ pixel map gives you the opportunity to ‘buy a piece of the ‘Island’.
You can buy pixels on this very special map for a little as £10 safe in the knowledge that all cash raised through go directly towards the running costs of the games, which if you weren’t aware, are completely dependent on sponsorship.
There be treasure in that there map, arrgghhh
The map even features a special piece of treasure, namely two VIP tickets to the NatWest Island Games 2011 Opening Ceremony, hidden within its pixels.
So how does it work?
It’s simple, you can buy pixel blocks on the special NatWest Island Games map, stick your logo on if you’re a company and even have it linking to your Website.
