Our last competition winner Annie, has got in contact to tell me about a project being run by the Arts Unit called The Carnival Book.
She is working with a group of people who will be documentating this year’s carnival season for a book. They are looking for people to contact them with memories and reminiscences of their involvement over the years, to help them build the story of carnival on the Island.
For the book to truly reflect the impact of, and enthusiasm for carnival across the Island it needs input from all those who have been touched by the magic of carnival.
The Arts Unit would like to hear your story. Please tell us how you get involved in your local carnival, what it means to you, your friends and family and what it is about carnival that makes it so special. We’d also like to hear about what you are planning to do this year and why you choose to get involved. Let us have your stories, reflections, ideas and aspirations for this Carnival Island, along with any pictures you may have of making costumes or participating in carnival.
