Thanks to Lesley for a reminder of how Ventnor Library will be celebrating World Book Night on Tuesday. Ed
Tuesday 23 April is World Book Night – this is the occasion when readers share their favourite books and authors with people who may not yet have encountered them, and books being given out in Ventnor this year include Jeanette Winterson’s ‘Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal’, and Rose Tremain’s ‘The Road Home’.
We will be celebrating at Ventnor Library as usual with an evening of readings and, as World Book Night this year falls on St George’s day, which is also Shakespeare’s birthday, our general theme will be a celebration of country, nationhood and Shakespeare.
Do come along and join us, and share a book or author you like; last year we were surprised by the number of people who were brave enough to stand up and read, so there will be plenty to enjoy even if you just come along to listen.
World Book Night at Ventnor Library: 7 – 9 pm, Tuesday 23 April (free entry).
