All are invited to attend the awards ceremony of the Isle of Wight Short Story Competition 2016 in the presence of Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for the Island Major General Martin White CB, CBE, JP and High Sheriff for the Isle of Wight Robin Courage.
Doors open at Newport Minster at 5pm with the ceremony itself starting at 7pm (19th December).
Carol and Bob Bridgestock
Organised once again by the intrepid investigators RC Bridgestock, authors of the DI Dylan series of crime novels and advisors to TV crime programmes Happy Valley and Scott and Bailey, the competition has been open to everyone on the Island with funds raised supporting the Isle of Wight Society for the Blind.
Newport and Chale Parish Councils have sponsored 130 places for children under 12.
Celebrity readings
Local businesses have provided prizes and trophies but to add the topping to the cake, The IW Society for the Blind is excited to announce that actress, Kathy Manning, singer, Edana Minghella and actor, Robert Glenister have all agreed to record the overall winning entries from the three categories and have agreed that these recordings may be sold to raise funds for the Society.
Island entertainers Emily Scotcher and Ricky J will be providing entertainment during the evening
