We all find ourselves getting tied up in knots over something from time to time, but local magician and illusionist Chris Philpott welcomes the challenge every time.
Last Friday, all for the sake of charity (and his illustrious reputation of course) he performed an illusion escape at Sandown High School. This event was all in aid of the NSPCC.
However, it wasn’t just ropes he had to escape from.
His trusty assistant Emily, AKA Miss Flea, had him bound in a series of chains, handcuffs and rope all of which he had to slip free from in just 40 seconds.
Quite impressive wouldn’t you say.
But it doesn’t stop there, because Chris (with the help of Miss Flea) raised £60 on the day for his magic feat, with cash from sponsors also expected.
“I would like to that all who sponsored me for my escape including Vectis Television & the IOW Magic Circle. I feel the event went very well and I would like to thank all who gave their kind comments to me.”
The act was also filmed by Meridian TV, but we’re not sure whether it has been shown yet. If you watch the programme keep your eyes peeled just in case.
If you were at the Shanklin Christmas Festival last Saturday you might have seen Chris performing his wild, wacky magic and fire eating.
We say, well done Chris and Emily – let’s hope your actions inspire others to think up ways to raise cash for worthy causes.
