Six ‘bundles of joy’ arrived at St. Mary’s Hospital in time for Christmas 2014.
First to arrive at 02:50hrs in the morning on 25th December was a son for Rachel and Ben Donald of Bembridge. The baby weighed in at 7lb 6ozs (3.34kg).
Second to arrive at 10:01hrs was a baby boy delivered to Charlotte Pitcher of Cowes and Richard Sams. Their son, named Sonny, weighed in at 7lb 8oz (3.41kg).
Third to arrive at 11:09hrs was a baby girl delivered to Blue Bailey-Hunt of Carisbrooke and Dean Pike. Their daughter, named Zoli, weighed in at 7lb 5oz (3.32kg).
Fourth to arrive at 14:35hrs was a baby boy delivered to Kym and Dean Thistlewood of Northwood. Their son, named Freddie Brian, weighed in at 4lb 5oz (1.97kg).
Fifth to arrive at 16:55hrs was a baby boy delivered to Chloe Smith. Her son, named Clark, weighed in at 7lb 2oz (3.22kg).
Sixth and last, to arrive at 23:22hrs was a baby boy delivered to Donna Hetherington of Sandown and Emmanouil Dimitriou. Their son, named Dimitris, weighed in at 9lb 7oz (4.28kg).
Karen Baker, Chief Executive of Isle of Wight NHS Trust, the main provider of ambulance, community, hospital and mental health services on the Island, said:
“Congratulations to all the parents on their new arrivals. From my own time as a nurse and midwife I know that Christmas is a special time in the Maternity Unit and across all our health services. I am grateful to all our staff who agreed to work across the Christmas period.”
