Twenty-six Rainbows and leaders stayed overnight at Brighstone Guide and Scout Hall. The weekend was penguin-themed and everyone completed a penguin badge. Throughout the weekend the girls made several crafts including penguin clay models, sugar cube igloos, penguin paper crafts, making fairy wands and fairy cakes.
All the Rainbows visited the local park where the girls enjoyed using the equipment. Rainbow Leader Kim Arnell said, “Really I think they enjoyed getting in their full wet weather gear for this activity!”
First night away for many
This sleepover was a first night away for many of the girls and was extra special for one Rainbow as she had a sixth birthday on the Sunday, so everyone celebrated with birthday cake.
Christmas Funday
Meanwhile Brownies from the Osborne Section got together to have a Christmas Funday. All the girls enjoyed several crafts including making keyrings and bunting, decorating gingerbread shapes and making Christmas wreaths and owl decorations.
Forty-eight girls from eight different units from across the Section including Parkhurst and East Cowes attended the event.
Parents were invited for tea and coffee which was served by the girls and there was a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses including JR Zone and Red House Spa. There was also the chance to guess the weight of the cake and the event finished with a Brownie sing song.
