Get ready for a fun-filled day! Now in its second year, we’re excited to celebrate village halls and the volunteers who keep them going, on Saturday, March 22nd, from 11am to 3pm at the gorgeous Mottistone Gardens.
This event comes at the end of ACRE’s National Village Halls Week. Community Action IW have teamed up with the National Trust and village halls all over the Island to show just how important these community hubs are.
The day will start at 11am when the Lord Lieutenant, Suzie Sheldon, will officially open the event, joined by the vibrant rhythms of FaT Samba to set the mood.
Celebrating and Supporting Volunteers
The theme for this year’s Village Halls Week is Celebrating and Supporting Volunteers. Some of these volunteers will be attending a special cream tea and mini awards ceremony with the High Sheriff, Graham Biss, the Lord Lieutenant and the head of the National Trust IW.
Village Halls will be showcasing what they do and groups who use village halls will give performances and demonstrations. There will be drumming and singing; belly dancing and jewellery making; cactus growing, bee keeping and more.
So, why should YOU come by?
For starters, you can explore Mottistone for free! Take a leisurely stroll through the beautiful gardens, enjoy a comforting cup of tea, and perhaps discover a hidden treasure at the second-hand bookshop.
You can catch some fantastic performances, browse the stalls, and dive into numerous activities. Plus, kids can have a great time joining the Ranger team in the sheep pen, which sounds like a lot of fun! And don’t forget, you’re welcome to bring your furry friends along—dogs are absolutely welcome!
