Community Renaissance Festival Returns: Bigger and Better

Next weekend sees the return of the Isle of Wight Community Renaissance Festival at Smallbrook Stadium.

The 2010 Renaissance Festival Returns: Bigger and BetterThis huge community event was a great success last year, where over £3,000 was raised for charity.

Community workers, Cora Wade and Marcelle Edwards came up with the idea for the festival back in 2008 and have done a marvellous job in organising the event two years in a row – more detail from behind the scenes of the festival to come on VB later next week.

What’s on offer?
This year visitors to the one day festival can expect to be treated to all manner of entertainment.

There’s live music from Denzil, Lost Years and Acoustic Smoke and Mirrors. Along with Glen Koppanye, Becky Rice and other musicians, both traditional and contemporary, throughout the day.

A new community arts based project, Island Creations, will be running Kids Kingdom, alongside Mas Exodus and their team of people.

There’ll be a Renaissance themed Punch and Judy, a story teller and lots of circus play – as well as stocks where kids can lock up the adults and throw water sponges.

The market will have traders selling all kinds of wares and there will be a pole lather there too!

More details to follow
More details will be coming up over the next week, but rest assured, the 2010 Renaissance Festival is going to one day in the Island calender not to be missed.

Make sure you have Sunday 30th May in your diaries.

Look out for more details in the coming week of full lineup.
