News of a community surgery being held next week in relation to the 70m wind monitoring mast at the Isle of Wight Prison reaches VB. Local residents are invited to attend. Ed
Earlier this month the Isle of Wight Council approved a planning application for a wind monitoring mast for PfR’s wind energy project at the Isle of Wight Prison.
PfR (Partnerships for Renewables), a renewable energy developer working with the Ministry of Justice to develop two wind turbines at the prison in Newport, expects the 70m mast to be erected on site in the early weeks of the summer.
The mast is expected to remain on site for approximately three years to monitor and record the site-specific wind regime.
Public invited to community surgery
PfR will also be hosting another community surgery next week to discuss its on-going work on the Camp Hill wind energy project.
The surgery will be held on Tuesday 31st May between 3pm and 7pm at the Riverside Centre (The Quay, Newport).
Jerry Sturman, Regional Manager at PfR, said: “We are currently carrying out a range of ecology and bird studies as well as technical assessments on the site. Once the wind monitoring mast is up in the next few weeks we will start to collect data on the local wind regime. If anyone would like to discuss our work in detail they are welcome to get in touch or to come to one of our community surgeries in Newport.”
