Connect with fellow photographers and hear from guest speaker at Creative Network gathering

Creatives working in photography, both traditional and digital, are invited to attend a special networking event on Thursday, 19th September 2024.

The event, which runs from 6pm to 8pm, will be held at the Dimbola Museum and Galleries in Freshwater.

Free event for visual artists and videographers
The gathering, organised by IW Creative Network, is free of charge and open to all visual artists, including photographers and videographers, who are looking to connect with others in the field.

It offers a unique opportunity to network, share ideas, and explore future collaborations in a relaxed and historic setting.

Guest speaker: Matt Rawlings
The guest speaker for this event is Island photographer Matt Rawlings. He’ll be talking about his journey into a creative photography career and the different sectors encompassed in his work.

Matt is a multi-faceted photographer specialising in portraits, events and candid photography. Matt’s creative roots stem from an entertainment background, first exploring photography amongst performers, events and fellow creatives. His recent professional work has seen him capture the eclectic talents of performers fringe festivals and architectural photos for Stella Developments.

Matt also works as an Entertainment Booking Consultant for Carnival UK, combining his photography and entertainment background to scout for up and coming talent to perform on P&O Cruises. Matt is passionate about inspiring young creatives to pursue their passion and is excited to share the knowledge and tools he’s learnt along the way to help others achieve their dream.

An historic venue for contemporary creatives
Dimbola Museum and Galleries, the former home and studio of pioneering Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron, provides an inspiring backdrop for the event.

Cameron, known for her contributions to early portraiture, lived and worked at Dimbola between 1860 and 1875. Today, the museum honours her legacy while also serving as a vibrant space for modern artists.

A chance to build connections
You’ll be able to explore the gallery spaces, as well as enjoy the museum’s tea room and gift shop. The event aims to bring together local creatives to share resources and discuss potential future collaborations.

Organisers hope the event will strengthen the artistic community on the Isle of Wight, fostering new connections and opportunities for those working across various media.

How to join the event
Those interested in attending can book their place through Eventbrite. Spaces are limited, so registration is advised.

This free networking event presents a fantastic opportunity for local creatives to come together, learn more about Dimbola’s offerings, and connect with fellow artists at one of the Island’s most culturally significant venues.
