A convoy headed for Gaza will be leaving the Isle of Wight this afternoon.
Those seeing off the convoy will be meeting at 2pm outside Joe Daflo’s in Union Street Ryde.
It’s the first part of the journey for the convoy to Gaza which includes three drivers from the Island.
They’ll be travelling with the Viva Palestina convoy, which will be joining others from Ireland, Europe, Turkey and Arab countries to take aid to Gaza.
It’s thought that they will arrive in Gaza on 27th December – one year on from the start of the bombardment.
Volunteers joining the convoy today will help in taking wheelchairs, medical, educational and other badly needed supplies such as sleeping bags (rescued from the IOW Festival) and hearing aids, all donated by the generous people of the Isle of Wight.
If you’ve donated to the cause, rest assured that those leaving today will ensure that your support reaches those in need.
