Waste Collection calendar without 31st October

Could fear of Halloween be reason for date blooper in waste collection calendar? πŸ™‚

Could it be that whoever creates the Isle of Wight council’s waste collection calendars might have a bit of problem with Halloween?

Eagle-eyed Isle of Wight resident, Chris Bailey, got in touch at the weekend after spotting that 31st October was missing from his area’s waste collection calendar.

The result of just one day being left out meant that all future references for whether the Monday collection in East Wight would be for landfill or recycling were incorrect.

IWC: New calendars sent to those affected
News OnTheWight got in touch with the council straight away and they have now confirmed the error and how they’ve resolved it.

An Isle of Wight council spokesperson told News OnTheWight,

β€œRegretfully, the error was noted at the time the calendars were sent out. Several versions of the calendar are produced to cover different routes.Β

β€œAll residents whose collection day would have fallen on the missing Monday 31st October were sent new calendars.

β€œThe sequential dates are correct for November (starting on Tuesday 1st Nov) onwards for all collections and did not require updating for all residents.”

Still wrong
However, at time of publishing, the online version of the calendar was still incorrect. We’ve let the council know and hopefully it’ll be updated soon.
