The holidays are not far off now and many of us are already planning what we’ll get up to during the festive season.
Of course, it’s only natural that most council services will also be affected during the holiday period.
Some will be providing reduced services and others closing down completely between Christmas Eve and 4th January next year.
Here’s the run down of details from the Council.
Call Centre
The council’s Call Centre along with Newport Help Centre will close from 1500 on 24 December for five days.
It will re-open between 0900 – 1600 on 29, 30, 31 December but will then be closed through until 4 January when it will re-open and operate under normal working hours.
Highways emergencies
Anyone needing to report a highways emergency, such as a fallen tree or faulty traffic lights, should ring (01983) 525121 or 823777.
For non-emergencies, a Highways message recording service will operate from 1500 on 24 December until 0800 on 4 January.
Housing and council building emergencies
For emergencies involving council buildings and housing services, people should ring (01983) 821105.
Adult social care
For adult social care there will be an emergency telephone service available from 0830 to 1700 pm on 29, 30 and 31 December which can be reached on (01983) 534227.
Outside these times the emergency service can be reached on (01983) 821105
Benefits office
Isle of Wight Council Revenue and Benefits Service, which is based on The Broadway in Sandown, will close from 1500 on 24 December and will re-open from 0830 on 4 January.
