At Tuesday’s planning committee, Chief Executive of Captiva Homes, the developer behind the West Acre Park, said they were committed to building a state-of-the-art, increased capacity, doctor’s surgery for Ryde.
Cllr Michael Lilley, who has been openly vocal with his objections to the 473-home scheme being built on the site of the former Westridge Farm, claims that the planning officer’s latest report for Tuesday meeting contained misleading information in reference to a GP surgery.
Not a new surgery, just a new building
Tuesday’s planning papers refer to a ‘new surgery’, when in fact, Cllr Lilley says it’s just a new larger building for an existing GP surgery, and believes the reference is misleading.
Cllr Lilley has shared with News OnTheWight an email from one of the Directors of the Integrated Care Board (ICB), where it’s made clear that any GP surgery on the West Acre site would just be a new larger building for an existing GP surgery, rather than a new surgery, with new staff and patients.
Cllr Lilley claims that comments have been made on the portal by members of the ICB “who had no authority to do so”. He tells News OnTheWight that he’s formally complained to ICB about this and asked for a full investigation.
ICB: Still in the early stages
Although talks have been ongoing with the surgery, the Integrated Care Board and the developer, it is still in the early stages, and for that reason the ICB have “not wanted to announce details of potential new sites until they are closer to reality.”
News OnTheWight has asked the council for their response to the accusations and will update once we hear back.
