The Cowes Floating Bridge, which broke down a week ago after ‘developing a fault’ remains out of action, say the Isle of Wight council.
A spokesperson said,
“We would like to reassure residents that we are working closely with our contractors to bring the floating bridge back into service as swiftly as possible.
“Engineers have since identified an issue with a drive motor and we are now awaiting the results of further investigations to establish the remedial works required and likely timescales.”
Launch service in operation
It is not clear when the bridge will return to service, but the council say they will provide a further update once they know more.
A launch service remains in operation for foot passengers and cyclists.
The spokesperson finished by saying,
“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
