Three marine engineers were forced to seek help when their brand new 25 foot speedboat developed engine trouble on Saturday evening.
When they called up Solent Coastguards for assistance they were off Egypt Point, Cowes, but by the time Cowes RNLI lifeboat found them their boat had drifted eastwards to near Prince Consort Buoy.
The red and white speedboat, which had set out from Hamble, was towed to Shepards Wharf Marina by the lifeboat, helmed by Simon Hawkins. A Force 3 north-easterly was blowing at the time.
